I had a somewhat serious auto accident a couple of years ago that most folks say I am fortunate to have lived through… I tend to use the word “blessed” instead of fortunate, because besides a destroyed knee and a stent in one of my kidneys, I am otherwise ok. I am living proof that seat belts and air bags save lives… I have always had a running joke that goes something like this: I don’t wear my seatbelt cause the state of Georgia passed a law requiring me to do so. I wear my seat belt because Newton’s third law (of physics) tells me I should… However, in the case of this accident, it is fairly obvious there was more at work than seat belts, air bags, and physics. I don’t know why God spared my life that night – he ain’t told me why yet. I know there has to be a reason though… I have no idea how many guardian angels were there, but they had to be there. It reminds me of this song.
Brooks and Dunn had a song with a very similiar theme that is also powerful. I try to add the official video if there is one – it increases the power of the song exponentially IMHO… My uncle Don may or may not remember our conversation about this song… I asked him how many people he thought would know what “finding more and more truth in the words written in red” meant? He said everybody would… Folks, Bibles are being printed today without the words of Jesus in red – not all of them (not yet anyhow), but some. I will never forget hearing mama tell me that teachers cannot grade with red pens anymore because it is too negative on the childrens’ self esteem…
I also remember the first time I heard the boys from Ft. Payne, Alabama. Their music had a profound influence on my young teenage years. My Dawgs were #1, we had #34, and Alabama was changing country music, not winning national football championships. Don’t be fooled by appearance… Randy Owen is a country boy – sure… He is also a brilliant man with a bachelor degree in English. I highly recommend reading his autobiography “Born Country”. It is time well spent.
So… Big bang or singularity? There are two types of nuclear reactions in physics – fusion and fission. Fission is a process of two larger atoms (such as uranium) colliding (and exploding into many more) to create energy. This results in energy plus radioactive waste that remains that way for eons. Fission is the process we use in our nuclear power plants and atomic bombs. Fusion, on the other hand, is the process of smaller atoms (hydrogen) combining to create energy – without waste. This is the process our sun uses and most of the stars and the rest of the universe uses. Looking at it from a binary perspective – I would label fission as hate, fusion as love, fission as big bang, fusion as singularity, fission as 0, fusion as 1, fission as off, fusion as on… If we were able to replicate fusion here on earth, our energy concerns would be instantly solved. But I digress.
