Change Is Inevitable II

One of my chores that I have an obligation to take care of (at least in the spring/summer/fall) is grass cutting for the family.  Although it is sometimes difficult to complete – given the back/knee issues I deal with – it is also rewarding.  I suppose it is due to the good feeling I get when the chore is finished.  Since I try to take care of the grass at the farmhouse and the grass at Jen and Bro’s house, I am afforded a considerable amount of time to listen to music.  Sometimes I listen to new music I just got, and sometimes I just hit play and let it shuffle.  Yesterday was a shuffle day.  There were a couple of Jason Boland songs that played yesterday that I felt obliged to add to the “Change” post – one for a Jimmie Rodgers line, and one for its message (although both have a great message).

The second verse of “Predestined” is packed with wisdom:

“Empty pockets don’t mean you need money
It’s just another place to put your hands
And focus on that rock you’ve been a-kickin’
One day it’s gonna be a grain of sand”.

As long as there are artists like Jason, country music will not only survive, it will thrive.  The last song that shuffled to play as I ended the day was a Turnpike Troubadours gem – and one I am partial to given the title.

Nice shirt Evan.  It would seem the future of country music is in good hands.
