Twitter Rant

Some of you may have noticed that I have been on a Twitter rant lately.  I have been on the social media platform for quite a while, but used it to gather information instead of interacting.  In this blog post, I am going to gather today’s tweets under 1 roof.  Again, for the most part, these are my OPINIONS, not proven facts.  I decided it was time to share my innermost thoughts with the world.  If you disagree, that is ok – you can stop reading and/or finding fault in my logic.  If you do agree and understand WHAT and WHY I am saying these things — please share it, will ya?  The political mess our country is in, combined with the ignorance, hate, and arguing rampant in our country, are the impetus for this post.  In no way am I suggesting I am “right” aka correct on anything and/or everything.  I am simply trying to give the reader a new set of eyes on the subject(s).  Notice the quote, pinned tweet, and location in the header.

Dr. Maya Angelou’s advice on overcoming violence and prejudice. To me, prejudice is just another term for ignorance. She is one of my heroes, and her soul is deep and wide indeed.

(1/2) #DonHenley is an important donor and has helped protect Walden Woods. Dr. Angelou would approve – song and philanthropy.

Both Thoreau and Emerson have had a profound influence on me. I am thankful that Don is helping to preserve Walden Woods.

(1/2) Remember my statement that American society has been dumbed down? Read this:

“One has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws.”Martin Luther King Jr.

“It is not always the same thing to be a good man and a good citizen.”Aristotle

(2/2) “If you’re not going to use your free speech to criticize your own government, then what the hell is the point of having it?” Michel Templet

“In an unjust society the only place for a just man is prison.” Henry David Thoreau

(3/2) “Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.” John F. Kennedy Jr.

An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so.” Mahatma Gandhi

(1/2) While I am on my rant about racism and prejudice, I suppose I should expand it to the Hispanic world. Their family units are much better structured than Americans’. Dont @ me. I have never met one who wasnt a hard worker and chasing the American dream.

Still think illegals are lawbreakers? If your children went to bed hungry, would YOU wait for a green card? If you say yes, you are lying. I have heard horror stories from some of those “illegals”.

The SYSTEM is the problem, not the PEOPLE.

I really, really wish more people would follow @coreysmithmusic example. #patriot.

“Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding.” –
Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

Our society is crumbling.  Our government is changing, and not in a good way.  Its people have lost their way.  Follow the golden rule folks.  It is called “golden” for a very good reason.
